3 ways to disable the Leagues

Image
This post was originally written by Algarve11 for Duolingo forum . 1. Disabling the Leagues by making your profile private. Go to the Settings Go to the Privacy section . Untick the button "make my profile public" . Save the changes. Done. If you do this in your browser, the Leagues will be also disabled in the app. Please note that by making your profile private, you won't be able to follow other users nor being followed. As long as your profile remains private you will stay in the same League. If you make your profile private while you are still in a leaderboard competition you will stay in this leaderboard and may be demoted or promoted at the end of the leaderboard week, but from then on you will not join a new leaderboard. You can join a new leaderboard anytime except the last 24 hours of a leaderboard week. The list of people you are following and your followers stays the same. You can't see your friends list anymore on the main page but

You cannot remove a course if it is the only course you are learning. Go to your settings page Go to your "Language" page by selecting Learning Language from the menu on the right of the screen. Click Reset or remove languages under the big blue "See all language courses" button. Select "Reset Progress" (blue button) if you want to start the tree from the beginning. Select "Remove" (that's the big red button) if you want to remove the tree and any traces of it, such as the small flag next to your name or on your profile. Please be aware that removing or resetting a course cannot be undone. I can't hear the difference between words ending in "и" or "ий". What is the difference?

This comment was originally written by E-chan. on Duolingo Russian forum in "I can't hear the difference between words ending in "и" or "ий". What is the difference?" thread. I'm a native speaker and to me it seems that the difference in sound is indeed very subtle. The thing is that we just know what ending it should be. They mostly correspond to different word types. E.g. "-ий" would go with: - adjectives (синий, общий, третий) - participles (живущий, сказавший) - many traditional male names (Василий, Дмитрий, Анатолий) and many surnames (some surnames end with "-и" but they are of foreign origin and not as common as surnames with "-ий") - some pronouns (некий, всякий) - some nouns (but you won't see them much, all examples I could remember are rather rare words like морфий, жребий) "-и" would go with: - adverbs (дружески, адски) and verbal adverbs (сказавши, увидевши) - adjectives

In 2011 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed it as the International Day of Human Space Flight (Международный день полёта человека в космос). Here is a small collection of space-related materials which I hope you will find interesting. First of all, to practice your Russian, here is a short video recorded on the International Space Station and published today, with a script and translation below.
